Walking in Perthshire

The Amulree Hotel is one of the few truly rural hotels in Perthshire offering good accommodation for walkers. It’s location is ideal due to the abundance of walks both for the novice and advanced walker alike.  You have the unique ability to sample some of the best walks in Scotland by just stepping out of the front door. No need for cars, just point yourself in the direction you find most desirable then let your feet do the walking. The wildlife and scenery is amazing so bring a camera

The hotel sits at the end of loch Freauchie just below the snow capped hills

Marked (Rob Roy Way) and unmarked walking routes are plentiful ranging from 5 miles to 50 miles. One of the most popular and leisurely walks starts at the Amulree  hotel, takes you up through Glen Quaich, round Loch Freuchie and back to the hotel. Several hours of walking pleasure with stunning scenery all on tracks

view from the top of craighulich down to the hamlet of Amulree you can see the river Braan winding it's way through the hotels grounds

Another popular walk is to leave the hotel, wade the Braan, walk three quarters of a mile then to climb 800 feet to the top of Dalneoch Hill. Here you will find the most magnificent view of Southern Perthshire. You can also climb Craighulich to gain some impressive views of Amulree. The pictures you see above and below Have both been taken from the top of Craighulich

Some walkers who have just come of the hill, shortly to enjoy some hospitality provided by the Amulree
